BARCELONA, SPAIN
We have wanted to go on a cruise for quite some time but never got around to it. We were desperate for a quick getaway after a busy summer. We found a cruise that stopped in places we had always wanted to visit and decided to give it a shot. We found one that leaves out of Barcelona and goes to Italy, France, and another stop in Spain; we figured if we're going to do a cruise, we might as well cruise to cool locations.
Within two weeks, we were on our way to Barcelona; we spent two nights there exploring before we boarded our ship. We stayed at the Hotel Condes de Barcelona, right in the main shopping strip in Barcelona. It was a quaint boutique hotel super close to everything we wanted to see. We walked to La Sagrada Familia, a massive cathedral that has been in progress for over 100 years. Construction is ongoing because of the immaculate detail, and it’s stunning. We walked down to La Rambla, it is very touristy but a cool sight still.
When we were back from our cruise, we stayed at the Fairmont Barcelona Rey Juan Carlos I. At the Fairmont, we spent our time relaxing after a long week of exploring and before heading home. Before travelling home. Everything was incredible. They had a great restaurant by the pool and a fantastic bar in the lobby. We enjoyed the Fairmont part of our stay. Both hotels were lovely, but it was more relaxing being slightly outside the city, and it was an easy commute back to where the shops and restaurants were.
