Naples & Livorno

When our cruise docked in Naples, we jumped at the opportunity to explore the city. The city did not disappoint; it is beautiful, the narrow streets, tons of street vendors and coffee shops.

We lined up to eat at Gino E Toto Sorbillo. It was recommended everywhere to try this place for great Napoleon pizza. The restaurant opens at 11:30, we got there at 11:10, and there was a line up already. By the time 11:30 came, the lineup was massive and around the corner. The line moved very quickly, and we got seated shortly after opening, we ordered almost immediately, and the pizza was the best pizza we’ve ever had. The meal was cheap too, I believe it was 3-4 euros per pizza, and we shared one, it was huge. The service was friendly and quick.

We walked around Naples's main street area, got gelato and coffee before heading back to the cruise. We didn’t want to wander too far and be one of the cruise runners running back to make the cut off time.

When we arrived at Livorno (the closest port to get to Pisa and Florence), were going to take a train to Pisa, but we didn’t want to spend the day worried about missing the boat departure so, we decided to stay close by in Livorno. We had an absolute blast in Livorno, it quickly became one of our favourite days on the cruise. We walked around the boardwalk, we saw the beautiful town plaza and then got some prosecco (too much prosecco) at Corner Bistro we wobbled our way back to the cruise ship around sunset. If we find ourselves in Italy again, we will be back in Livorno. The whole town is picturesque, gorgeous, quiet, and we would love to spend a few days there.
