FRANCE + MONACO
France & Monaco
Cannes, Nice, & Monaco
We flew into Monaco via Helicopter from Cannes, France. Our cruise stopped in Cannes for a total of 8 hours. When we were looking at the stop before arriving, we noticed it was close to Monaco and thought we might as well add one more country to our list. Due to our lack of time, however, we decided to take a helicopter. We booked a private helicopter transfer through Heli Securite, which was amazing and included a transfer to anywhere in Monaco (this seemed insane to us until we learned the whole country is 4km long). We were dropped off on the south side of Monaco and then transported to the Fairmont Monaco. We walk from there to the Monaco Palace area, which was beautiful. It was a mountainous area in the centre of Monaco that had a great view of both the north and south side. We were blown away with how beautiful and clean this city and country was. We walked the entire country, back and forth and ended in the Monte Carlo area. We walked into the Monte-Carlo casino and enjoyed a glass of champagne and some pastries in a nearby cafe before catching a train to Nice. Nice was lovely (doing my best to avoid the word nice). It was gorgeous in Nice. We had crepes for lunch right on the main boardwalk explored the beach. Both of these spots made us regret only having 8 hours. We will be back ASAP. The people were shockingly kind and helpful. We did not have enough time here, we were supposed to continue our train journey into Cannes, but we got so caught up in the beauty of these two places we ended up taking the helicopter back to Cannes to catch our boat. We didn’t want to become cruise runners.
